Luxembourg airline Luxair will launch the first direct flights between Luxembourg and Tirana on Monday 29 March 2027. The year-round service will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, according to Chronicle.lu and a statement from Tirana International Airport. Until then, there is no direct flight between the two capitals.

Tickets went on sale on 10 September 2026. Chronicle.lu reported fares starting at €129 for a Light fare with cabin baggage and €169 for a Smart fare that includes checked baggage. The Smart fare also allows booking changes. The report does not say whether these are one-way prices.

Luxair said a market study it carried out in 2026 identified Tirana as a growth opportunity, citing demand from holidaymakers and from the large Albanian diaspora in Luxembourg and the surrounding Greater Region, according to Chronicle.lu.

Tirana International Airport said the new route means it now connects to 39 countries, which it describes as a record for the Balkan region.

A growing airport

The airport reports that it handled 11.6 million passengers in 2025 and expects around 13.3 million in 2026, which by our calculation would be an increase of about 15%. It says it has direct links to about 120 destinations, served by 60 airline partners.

A second international airport has been built near Vlora but has not opened (see our report on the Vlora airport concession). For getting from Tirana airport into the city and beyond, see our travel tips.
